Mandate & Core Functions
The Assessment Department is responsible for the fair, secure, and efficient administration of all assessments at Emining Technical Training Institute. Our core mandate is to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, ensure the validity and reliability of all evaluations, and certify trainee achievement in accordance with the institution’s policies and the requirements of the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) curriculum.
Our courses are examined by:
TVET CDACC – TVET Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council
KNEC – Kenya National Assessment Council
NITA – National Industrial Training Authority
Our primary functions include:
• Guideline Formulation & Implementation: Developing, reviewing, and implementing
rules, regulations, and procedures governing the conduct of all internal and external
assessments.
• Assessment Integrity: Guaranteeing the confidentiality and security of assessment
materials before, during, and after all assessments.
• Logistical Management: Planning, scheduling, and coordinating the seamless execution
of all theory and practical assessments across all programs.
• Result Processing: Managing the accurate and timely processing, compilation, and
publication of assessment results.
. Achievements & Upcoming Plans
Recent Key Achievements:
• Improved assessment pass rate: The institution has achieved a remarkable pass rate of 82% in the latest assessment series.
• Enhanced CBET Assessment: Produced skilled trainees and directly incorporating
feedback from industry partners to better align with workplace competencies.
• Zero Malpractice Incidents: Maintained a record of zero major assessment malpractices in the last two academic years through proactive awareness campaigns and vigilant invigilation.
• E-Assessment Pilot: In collaboration with KNEC, we begun piloting e-assessment for theory papers in select modules to increase efficiency and flexibility.
